Supervisor Job Skills & Requirements
- Driving the company van and equipment to the job site.
- Coordinating the arrival and set up with the customer/shipyard.
- Layout of scans on vessel: start points, size of scans and stitching together individual scan files that make up the plate.
- Inputting scan data in an excel spreadsheet.
- Handling and monitoring scanners while scanning.
- Operate scissor and boom lifts safely and efficiently.
- Operate the data collection computers. Monitor the quality of scans and make the required adjustments to software, scanners, and operators.
- Monitor the speed of the operators and keep the job moving forward.
- Find the lowest thickness readings in the repair areas on hulls using the ultrasonic hand meter. Mark up repair areas and notes for final report.
- Proficiency with using the ultrasonic hand meter for thickness readings.
- Compiling the data into the final report using MS Office.
- Attention to detail and ability to see big picture and identify errors and make corrections.
- Maintaining the scanners and equipment. Requires basic mechanical common sense.
- Routine scanner overhauls 1-2 times per year depending on use.
- Responsible to have all fasteners, parts, tools and supplies on hand.
- Organizing, monitoring and purchasing as required.
- Responsible for maintaining work van, keeping clean and organized.
- Train and guide other scanning operators/handlers as needed.
